Important Poll: Where To Donate Proceeds Of Jungle Stix?

It is moving towards polling season in America, as the Presidential election is now within a year, and we want to get in on the fun! And you’ve joined us the whole way as we launch our private label marshmallow sticks, aka Jungle Stix. Now we need your help to decide where we donate the proceeds of Jungle Stix. If you want to catch up on the process of how we came up with the product and found suppliers, and register for upcoming webinars on the next steps of the launch, register for free at this page.

So here is the poll with the most popular suggestions that you have sent in. Please vote once, but feel free to share the poll with your friends to support your favorite non-profit and charity in the poll. I want to note that these were selected as non-denominational, non-partisan organizations that are reputable for their mission and efficacy in helping people in need. We’ll be keeping the poll open for the next few weeks, until we actually launch the product on Amazon. Thanks so much for participating and sharing your thoughts!

  1. Greg & Gen, Happy holidays & thanks again for trying to make a difference. Maybe it’s too late to be considered as one of the charity organizations but just food for thought :

    All Hands – http://www.hands.org

All Hands Volunteers is a US-based, non-profit organization, which addresses the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters by engaging volunteers, partner organizations and local communities. We aim to demonstrate the power and value of volunteering through the tangible work done, the hope it brings to suffering communities, and the transformative experiences it provides for volunteers.

  2. Greg,
Does Amazon require any documentation to validate the charitable donation? We are thinking about doing the same with our first product and wanted to promote it in the Title and Bullet Points. Do you think this would violate any of Amazon’s TOS?
    Thanks
    A.

  3. Can we add Pediatric Therapy Network? PTN, located in Torrance CA is a non-profit organization that provides therapeutic services to children with developmental disability.

  4. Wounded Warriors spends a great deal on advertising/marketing (on TV, internet), which is why everybody has heard of them. But there has long been questions regarding the validity of actual charitable expenditures. Much less than what charitynavigation shows actually goes to the vets whom this organization purports to provide support services for. The executive director himself draws a salary of $473,000 (2014-15).

While it does take more money to run a larger organization and create awareness, it also creates opportunities for those who run it at the highest level (senior execs) to profit off of philanthropy to a greater degree than smaller organizations with lower operating costs. Wounded Warriors does some good work, but I won’t give my money to them because very little actually goes to the advertised services.

Likewise, a much greater amount of your money is better utilized if you donate to local animal SPCA facilities, rather than donating to the umbrella ASPCA (again, most of your donations will go to producing those sad commercials on TV that get you to open your wallet while little goes to pay for the services that actually take care of the animals).

One of many articles pointing to the controversies surrounding Wounded Warriors. They’ve been suspect for a good while now and many of my business colleagues will not give to them after investigating.

    From the article:
…”What raised a flag for the consultant was the bonus pay, plus a $21-million payout to the charity’s 248-member staff — especially given that it paid more than $1 million to consult with a professional fundraising firm that year.”
