TikTok Made Me Search It 

Each day, the average TikTok user opens the app at least eight times, and spends roughly 1.5 hours scrolling. TikTok has become so popular that 40% of Gen Zs actually prefer it for search instead of Google

When searching for products, the majority (63%) of consumers still prefer to start on Amazon, however, data from Jungle Scout’s Q3 Consumer Trends Report reveals that 20% now start with TikTok, up from just 11% in the previous quarter. 

#Influenced: How creators and brands are using the platform

If we’ve learned one thing about TikTok users in 2022, it’s that they love skincare. Beauty influencers have dominated the platform sharing skincare secrets and debunking viral trends. Cera-Ve has quickly become a fan favorite because of its gentle ingredient list. Its top seller, the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser, has increased 100% in revenue in the last six months. 

Cleaning isn’t typically considered a fun activity— and yet, #CleanTok is a niche category with more than 51.6 billion views on TikTok. People find motivation and enjoyment in watching before and after videos and discovering new cleaning hacks. The viral brand The Pink Stuff has made waves on the platform and has seen a revenue increase of 190% in the last year, with unit sales jumping 131%. Its most popular cleaning solution is available on Amazon for $5.97. 

Popular brands like Bloom Nutrition use influencers and ecommerce features like Amazon Storefront to convert views to sales. Bloom partners with influencers across a variety of niches – from fitness to lifestyle – to maximize brand awareness on the app. As a video platform, TikTok provides brands like Bloom with the opportunity to showcase real-life results to potential customers.

Revenue for this product has increased 391% in the last year – with unit sales jumping 433%. Searches for these cups are just as prevalent in the fall with the keyword ‘slush cup squeeze’ up 280% in the last 30 days.

2. Wireless Charging Station

    1. Selling on Amazon for $33.99
    2. 1,396% increase in revenue in the last 6 months 

Who doesn’t love convenience – especially when it comes to technology? These three-in-one charging stations were viral on TikTok and had people rushing to Amazon to grab one of their own. Revenue for this product has increased 94% in the last year and searches for ‘the best 3 in 1 apple charging station’ are up 384% in the last 30 days.

3. The Scrub Daddy 

    1. Selling on Amazon for $19.99 (3 pack) 
    2. 946% increase in revenue in the last six months 

The Scrub Daddy is the internet’s favorite cleaning sidekick. Revenue for this product has increased 96% in the last year and the brand has seen an 89% increase in unit sales. Next time you’re scrolling #cleantok, see if you can spot one of these trendy sponges.

4. Hair Rollers

    2. 445% increase in revenue in the last six months  

With the beauty category experiencing a major boom in recent months, it’s not surprising that these hair rollers have made a comeback. This basic hair roller set has seen a 74% revenue increase in the last year, with unit sales up 71%.

5. Veggie Chopper 

    1. Selling on Amazon for $19.97
    2. 343% increase in revenue in the last six months 

Consumers are adding this veggie chopper to their list of kitchen must-haves after videos of the product went viral in 2022. Revenue for this product has increased 45% in the last year, while unit sales have seen a 39% increase. And it looks like the Amazon home category is still growing, as searches for ‘amazon home must haves’ have jumped 132% in the last 30 days.

6. Weighted Blankets 

    1. Selling on Amazon for $109.99
    2. 330% increase in revenue in the last six months 

Weighted blankets have become a popular choice for consumers looking to improve sleep quality and reduce stress and anxiety. These blankets have increased 54% in revenue in the last year with unit sales climbing 43%. The search ‘best weighted blanket’ up 306% in last 30 days.

7. Bento Boxes

    1. Selling on Amazon for $46.99
    2. 272% increase in revenue in the last six months

This adorable – and oddly satisfying – trend was huge on TikTok this year. Revenue for these kids’ bento boxes is up 53% year-over-year. And the newest trend in the world of organized lunches? Snackle boxes. Searches for‘ snackle box’ have jumped 163% in the last 30 days. Something to keep an eye on!

UPDATE: Prime Early Access Sale – how did these viral products fare 

With Amazon’s Prime Early Access Sale event at a close, it seems only natural that we look at how these viral TikTok products fared. In its press release, Amazon reports that the best-selling categories were Apparel, Home, Toys, and Amazon devices. But did these products live up to the hype? Let’s take a closer look. 

With consumers looking to take advantage of Prime Day’s low prices, it’s safe to say that most of these trendy products were a hit. Most notably, the famous Scrub Daddy sponges saw a 2,772% increase in revenue from October 10 to 12 (Prime Early Access Sale) compared to the same days the week before. Honorary mention goes to this Luna weighted blanket, which saw the second-highest jump in revenue (+415%) and unit sales (+391%).

  1. Great article !!! I can see incredible oportunities in tiktok, not only seeing trends. However I believe that it is critical to have an influencer on our side to make a real business.

  2. I am also new to TikTok but I can easily see a way to start affiliate marketing with TikTok videos. The key would be to find the right audience and the right type of affiliate products. The TikTok made me buy it videos are some of the best videos to use in order to go viral. Once again, I do believe that these types of TikTok made me buy it videos will bring in a lot of traffic to affiliate products.
