How did you get started on Amazon?

I learned about ecommerce and selling on Amazon in 2015 when I was looking for ways to make money online. I found an article about selling on Amazon and was hooked. I learned everything I could and jumped right in — experiencing success and failures along the way.

I have launched private label products and resold products through retail arbitrage and wholesale. My first private label product was a camera lens coffee mug — basically just a mug that looked like a camera lens. I sold it as a two-pack with one black and one white because my competitors only sold one at a time.

What is your favorite tool to use from Jungle Scout?

Product Database, along with Opportunity Finder and Extension are the best possible product research tools available to Amazon sellers. I’m always looking for new ideas and these tools make it easy to find products that are worth looking into.

What’s the biggest mistake you’ve ever made selling on ecommerce?

I accidentally bought and sold counterfeit phone cases on Amazon. I sold them on the brand’s own listing on Amazon at a much lower price point. I got tons of orders, shipped them out… and received a cease and desist letter from the brand.

Your advice for new sellers:

Just start somewhere. Of course, take the time to learn the right way to do things, but don’t overthink it. If you don’t have a lot of money, start by reselling items here and there. You don’t need to have this big legal business to start making money online.
