Amazon Sales Estimates: See What Competitors Are Selling

Amazon Sales Estimates: See What Competitors Are Selling

How many units is your top competitor selling each month? It’s one of the most useful numbers in any competitive analysis, and one of the hardest to find on your own.

A rival climbs to #2 in your category. A new brand shows up on page one. Your team needs a target for next quarter’s launch. Each moment calls for a sales figure your own reports can’t give you.

Sales Estimation, one of Jungle Scout’s AI Solutions, builds Amazon sales estimates for any ASIN on Amazon: yours or a competitor’s. It models units and revenue from sales rank and category data, calibrated against benchmark sales data contributed by sellers. Use the results to size a competitive threat, check market share, or set a realistic launch target.

Instead of guessing from rank alone, you’ll see whether a competitor moves 500 units a month or 5,000.

Questions you can ask about Amazon sales estimates

Ask in plain language, about one competitor or an entire category:

  • “How many units is [competitor ASIN] selling per month?”
  • “What’s [competitor]’s estimated market share based on sales volume?”
  • “How much would a product need to sell to reach the #1 spot in [category]?”
  • “Estimate monthly units and revenue for the top 10 ASINs in [category], and tell me what unit volume we’d need to break into that top 10.”
  • “Model [competitor]’s estimated revenue over the last 4 quarters and flag whether their growth is accelerating or plateauing.”
  • “Estimate category-wide revenue for [category] and compare it year over year. Is the estimated growth coming from more sellers or higher per-seller volume?”

Estimates are directional. They’re built for sizing scale and comparing competitors, not for precise financial reporting. They also only cover ASINs that are already selling. What it looks like in practice

Suppose your team wants to know what it would take to become the #1 product in its category. You open Ask Cobalt, the AI assistant built into Jungle Scout Cobalt, or your connected AI tool and ask.

The answer shows the current leader’s estimated revenue and units over the past 12 months, with the next few listings charted beside it. It also explains what’s behind the numbers, such as premium products holding the top spots, or a gap between #1 and #5 wide enough that a top-five finish is the more realistic goal.

From there, you can narrow the question. Ask what it would take to reach #1 in a smaller subcategory, where the bar is lower.
