Amazon Review Analysis: See How Your Reviews Stack Up Against Competitors

You probably have a general sense of what customers say about your products. The harder part is seeing the details across every ASIN in your catalog and knowing how your reviews stack up against your competitors’. Reading every review on your listings and theirs isn’t realistic, and star ratings and review counts only tell you so much.

Review Sentiment, one of Jungle Scout’s AI Solutions, analyzes review text on your products and your competitors’ and sorts it into recurring themes: complaints, praised features, and feature requests. In seconds, you get a ranked list of what customers care about most, along with where shoppers think a rival does better than you and where you come out ahead.

What you can ask Review Sentiment

Compare yours to the competition, or look across your own catalog:

  • “What do customers praise our top three competitors for that they criticize us for?”
  • “What do reviews say we do better than [competitor]?”
  • “What features do shoppers wish products in this category had?”
  • “Which of our ASINs have the most negative mentions right now?”
  • “Has any complaint become more common since our last listing update?”

A rating drop, explained

Say your 24oz insulated tumbler fell from 4.5 to 4.3 stars over the summer while your closest competitor held steady. Ask Cobalt, or Claude or ChatGPT connected through the Jungle Scout MCP, what’s driving your negative reviews and how they compare to your competitor’s.

You’ll see each complaint theme ranked, with a count of positive and negative mentions for your product and theirs. The response also flags which issues show up across many reviews and which come from just a few, so you know what to fix first and where your competitor has the edge.

From there, ask follow-up questions. Find out whether the same complaint shows up on your other ASINs, check Product Performance to see whether sales dropped along with the rating, or run Share Diagnosis to learn whether that competitor picked up the share you lost.

Where to run it

Cobalt customers can use Ask Cobalt today, built right into Jungle Scout Cobalt with no setup.

If you’d rather work in your own AI tool, connect Jungle Scout MCP to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini Enterprise, or Microsoft Copilot. It pulls from the same Amazon data.
