Despite total U.S. imports rising 13% between 2015 and 2019, the U.S. tracked toward a 5% year-over-year drop in imports at mid-year 2020, largely due to COVID-19 disruption.
Countries that “bounced back” early from 2020’s economic disruption are all in Asia.
Higher rates of COVID-19 correlated with reduced U.S. imports.
All data represents United States maritime imports from January 1, 2015, to June 30, 2020 from 237 unique countries. Jungle Scout analyzed more than 63 million maritime U.S. import records, including information on the shipper and shipment, from which country and category are extracted.
