The hardest part about selling on Amazon is, well, figuring out what to sell on Amazon. You may have what you think is a great idea for a product, but smart sellers rely on data — not always their gut instincts — for which products to invest in.
This is especially true in February, when customers shop for everyday products. Sure, sales typically slow down during this time of year, but sellers can take advantage of many opportunities to start fresh and launch new products.
How do you pick the best products to sell on Amazon? How do you know what consumers are buying during this time of year? How much inventory should you purchase?
We’ll answer all of those questions and more in this article, so keep on reading.
This is a little broad, but electronics is always a good category to search for products to sell. Think headphones and fitness trackers for gym-goers, or office equipment such as monitors, lights, and surge protectors for those who work from home.
To get an idea of what types of electronics are selling well this time of year, check out the Movers and Shakers sections on Amazon. This list shows you what is moving up in popularity at the moment.
Let’s look at some electronic-related keywords using Jungle Scout’s Keyword Scout tool.
There are thousands of products to choose from within the broad electronics category. They can also fall under many other main categories, such as sports and outdoors or home and kitchen. Many of these products are evergreen, and you can sell them year-round.
We typically tell new Amazon sellers to stay away from launching an electronic product but if you have selling experience and a decent budget, think about launching a private label product that can fall under the electronics category.
A unique and powerful way to market new products is by tapping into the massive user base on TikTok. TikTok is a great way to reach targeted audiences, even in competitive markets organically.
Tip: Try local discount stores such as Marshalls or Burlington; you can often find low-priced brand-name products at these stores to resell on Amazon.
2. House cleaning supplies
Since we are in the middle of winter, people tend to get sick more around this time of year. Meaning, consumers will purchase more household cleaning products to kill germs and keep their homes clean.
These types of household cleaning supplies are great for wholesale and arbitrage resellers as they will always be in demand. Work with brands to open wholesale accounts so you can resell products just like the ones below.
You can even launch your own private label brand of cleaning products. Use Jungle Scout’s Product Database to find an in-demand product within the Health & Household category.
Let’s look at some of the keywords within this category.
As you can see, the search volume is high and is trending upward.
3. Valentine’s Day gifts
This one is obvious, but the first week and a half of February is the perfect time to sell Valentine’s Day gifts. For these products, arbitrage is the best way to do it at this point in time.
Go to your local grocery store and scan all of the Valentine-related products they offer, such as chocolates, stuffed bears, toys, and so on.
Just look at the search volume on some of these keywords.
If you are approved in the grocery category on Amazon, look for candy and chocolate to resell on Amazon. At this point, you likely won’t have enough time to use FBA, so if you have the capacity, fulfill orders via FBM so you can get the orders to your customers fast.
4. Books (self-help, business, financial)
As many say, new year, new me. Which means consumers will be looking for ways to improve their lives in 2024. We talked about fitness products as people tend to work on their physical health in January, but what about mentally and financially?
Non-fiction books in the self-help, business, real estate, or financial niche can be great products to sell in February. Though, you’re probably saying, well, I’m not an author, how can I sell these books?
Selling used books is still one of the best ways to make money selling on Amazon. Look for used books in thrift stores, book sales, or even your own personal collection for books that fall under these categories.
Go through Amazon’s book category and search for these subtopics to see what types of books are selling the best, and make a note on some of these publications next time you source for books.
Though before buying a book to resell on Amazon, make sure you are allowed by Amazon to sell a particular book, even in a used condition.
If you do have a knack for writing and are well-versed in a “self-help” or “business-related” topic, then you can also look into self-publishing a book using Amazon KDP.
Use Keyword Scout to get ideas for the types of books you can resell on Amazon.
During the holiday season, people receive gifts based on the hobbies they already have or maybe for a new hobby that they want to pick up. Either way, targeting specific hobbies in February can be a lucrative way to earn some money.
Need ideas for what hobbies to sell products for? Ask ChatGPT to make a list of popular hobbies and then use Jungle Scout to do more research into some of those hobbies.
For example, golf. Someone may want to get into photography in the new year and need to buy a bunch of accessories to get them started.
There are many great opportunities to launch new private label products for nearly every hobby out there but if you want to capitalize sooner than later, there are an unlimited number of retail arbitrage and wholesale opportunities.
How to find the best products to sell on Amazon
Don’t limit yourself to the list of ideas above, as most products in all product categories will sell in February. Think outside the box, gather your ideas, and make sure you bring them into proper product research before investing in any product to sell on Amazon.
